Who was Saint Nicholas? Saint day is December 6th

Google

Who was Saint Nicholas? Why do People Celebrate him December 6th?

Saint Nicholas is the main "gift giver" in many places of the world.
His feast day is Dec.6th; the main day he gives gifts. Small treats are left in shoes or stockings for the children. Children in Europe are often interviewed to see if they are following the Saint's good example on his birthday.
the original Saint Nicholas was born in Patara, Turkey to wealthy parents. Unfortunately, they died when Saint Nicholas was a mere boy. He decided to follow taht Christian rule:"sell what you own and give it to the poor". He gave to all sorts of people in need who were ill, needy, and suffering.
He developed a reputation for giving in the region...He was made Bishop of Myra.
the Roman Emperor Diocletian exiled and imprisoned Saint Nicholas.
What do you make of Saint Nicholas?

Miracle on Ice: Freezing time to Save Lives

Miracle on Ice: Feezing Time to Save Lives
Mikel Jollett has interviewed Physicians and he says hyperhermia slows cell death in stroke, head and trauma patients.
in this paper, Dr. Steinberg at Stanford University says that the patient normally starts surgery at 91.4 Fahrenheit temperature with this procedure and for major surgery, such as a cranial bypass, drilling into the skull and exposing arteries, this prevents damage for 30 to 40 minutes.
This is awesome becasue he is preventing the arteries and brain tissue from being damaged.
He says that the main artery from the heart get blocked with a heart attack ; depriving the heart muscle of oxygen and blood and causing part of ti to die. However if the body is cooled down to 90degrees fromits' usual 98.6degrees this slows down the cells and stops them from all dying off.
What do you think?
Isn't this remarkable?
Apparently some cities like New York and Sacramento requires the ambulances tot ake the patients to where they can have this cooling for their recovery...

Hyperthermia used to save your brain:heart attacks

Hyperthermia can be used to save your brain from further injury by slownig everything down.
CBS News INteractive Healthwatch in New Orleans (AP) stated that Cynthis Crawford had some mighty shocks to get her heart beating after she collapsed at Oschner Clinic.
"She was placed ina cocoon-like pool that sprayed her body with hundreds of icy jes of water; plunging her into hyperthermia..."
Her cardiologist said:"It was like jumping into the North Sea.."When Crawford recovered days later it was without the main damage she would have had.
Apparently some doctors have used this method for years to limit the damage from brain, spinal cord injuries and strokes..even to help prematurity in newborns..
What do you think of it? would you try this?

Happy Thanksgiving! What will you do?

That Nasty h1n1 Vaccine is Alive!

October 29, 2009

Scientists are trying to educate us about what the swine flu is and what the vaccine is in this writing. They Say:"the swine flu is created within chicken eggs to create a large patch of antigen , which provokes an immune response from a vaccinated individual."
They then caution us: " The virus in the nasal spray is alive; making is more powerful, but also more risky"....They say;" Live viruses can cause genetic instability..a alive virus can cause the spread of a disease..."
They say that the vaccine is not licensed for anyone under two years old and over fifty...
What? I never heard that anywhere....
Further they say"Anyone with a health concern should ask their physicians before taking this vaccine. They mention a large group of people who definitely should not go near the nasal spray. The list includes people with anemia, lung disease, diabetes, heart , lung or kidney disease, or pregnant women...
Wow...The list should include people who have had such diseases....
Do you think anyone should be given this risky product?
Anyone out there heard more about this? what do you think?

Nasal Vaccine:Is it Safe for Anyone?

Dr. Sager reported that no one should take the nasal vaccine if they have or have had; lung disease, asthma, or a weakened immune system..
Huhhhhhhh? I didn't hear this on the news nor read it in the newspaper.
He says parents should be warned prior to the children getting the vaccine.
Huhhhhhhhhhhhhh?
I have not been told at all...
And the word is that many elementary schools in my area and possibly yours will be given this nasal vaccine without any warnings being given out....
What do you think?

Ard: Is She Our New Common Ancestor?

"Ardi provides clues to human origin"
by Joel Achenbach
Washington Post
October 2, 2009

Mr. Achenbach points out that Ardi lived 4.4 million years ago in East Africa. According to him, she lived mostly in trees and she slept in the trees with her offspring.Sometimes she would come down to the ground and walk upright.
He thinks that she could represent a transitional figure between old primates and newer primates.
Ard lived before Lucy, the 3.2 million year old skeleton found before Ard.
Scientists are still earching for the "lsot common ancestor"; a creature tat is the ancestor of the humans and chimpanzees. Many of these lived 7million years ago.
Ard i doesn't ahve the cahractersitics of the chimpanzees nor look like them so chimpanzees probably developed on their own according to scientists.
Ironically, the chimp adn the gorilla have developed more than the hominid. The hominid is primitve except for its' upright walking adn its' brain development.
Lovejoy, an anthropologist from Kent University, says that the Ards broguth food to theri mates , something that was easier for thsoe who wakled upright. Lovejoy heralds the male parental involvelment as a key point of survivla in these hominids.
What do you think? Do you think we are related to these creatures?

Wow! The Things we Gained with cooking!?comment

Scientific American
September 2009
Cooking by Melinda Wenner

Ms. Wenner says that without cooking we humans had to chew raw food.
Cooking softens food and breaks starch and proteins into more digestible molecules .
Cooking gives us more energy and time to form social relationships , to fuel bigger brains and to create divisions of labor according to Mr. Richard Warngham, and anthropologist from Harvard UniversityWranfham thinks that we hammered meat to make it flatter and easier to eat. This caused sparks!
He stated that he learned this through archeological research that humans had theri first roast 1.9 billion years ago...
Do you beleive this?

Humans: How did we find love?
Scientific American
Fall 2009
by Kate Wong

Weigh in on this please... Kate Wong of Scientific American says that our large brains and upright walking have encouraged our love feelings to begin...Wong says that in humans romantic love is capable of sending us to bliss or despair.
Helen Fisher of Rutgers University said that our larger brains meant that babies were born earlier than other primate infants and that they have en extended childhood to learn and grow. This is all due to our larger brains. She said that our larger brains helped early humans write poetry, create art and dance 35,00 yeas ago.
What do you think? Do you side with them? How ?

Francis: the Magna Carta Memorial: Who Knew?

Silks By Felix and Dick Francis
Google

I have been enjoying a book given to me by a cousin called"Silks"by Dick and Felix Francis.
It talks about the Magna Carta Memorial in London; built in 1957 by nine thousand American lawyers to honor the Magna Carta document ; which is credited for shaping laws in the United States "and throughout Western Civilisation" according to the attorneys, according to authors Feix and Dick Francis.
The document made sure they wrote that King John upheld it.
It said:
1." that the church would be free from the Royal House ruling it.
2." that it would preserve the ancient freedoms that London enjoys,
3. "that no human will be destroyed, outlawed , imprisoned or condemned unless it is the legal judgement of his peersor the lawof the landthat this shall happen,
4."that we shall not deny or delay rightsor justice to anyone."
Apparently they write, at that time the English had takent their rights for granted .
Then , King John had abused their rights.
they wrote this document so that no king could do this again. It affected all of the Western world and eventually America.
So does his document and monument impress you?
Do you think our rights are safe?
Elaborate.

The nice dentist pointed out that there are no shots and tht the water laser is like a water gun!
Lol!:):) guy guys wouldn't that be nice?the beam of light breaks out the water molecule and the water light breaks off the decay. They pointed out that the advantage is that people actually want to go to the dentist!
Hey!:) No kidding!:)
I would love it if my little place here has even heard of it!
The doctors did point out that the dentist needs to be skilled in laser work.
Etch is a soap that cleans off the tooth.
they rinse that off. the prime is teh dental resin they put in.
the bond layer attaches the composite resin to the tooth layer.
the tooth pillow hold up the mouth during this.
The laser light makes the resin dry up.
Hey guys it only takes five minutes!
I saw the kid get his cavity filled on tv!
Woohoo!

Sweetman to Find 48 new Dinosaur Species

Google
CBS
http://www.twine.com/search?tag=discovery8spot=radar

CBS reported this find three weeks ago off the Isle of Wight in England.
Richard Roth told the world about Whitman;s discoveries of a microscopic species
and there are 48 types that he has found and had documented and checked.
It would be fascinating for you to see the way he sifted through sand ... he made cuts of
huge lumps and then sifted them.

What do you make of this?
And are you surprised that they are so small?

Go See Cathy: Big Kudoes for Dare to Think

Cathy won inspiration and warm fuzzy feelings from me for her heroic entry:
"Daily Pain in a Different Light". People it is gutsy, it is emotional, it is philosophical and Cathyis quoted as saying" I use my energy of chronic pain to motivate me into transforming it into something I don't need..."
that's risky, innovative, and great.
Cathy you are a delight!
I also recommend her recent entry "No Single Creed".
It is a beautiful somewhat whimsical thought provoking entry on what we get from our faith and how we might use it!
bravo!

Sam is back! Go see! It's for real!

What do you think are our rights? (Bill of Rights)

"My Country, 'tis of thee, Statue of Liberty, of the I sing...
....Long shall our land be bright
With freedom's holy light
Protect us with thy might
To Thee we sing"...

People.... What are your rights?
We have a Bill of Rights in this country that is scared to me
because it was won with the blood and sacrifices
of our forefathers...
so... you tell me which ones count for you the most!
I hope some of our other friends will consider which rights mean the most for them too...
Do we as a people want to give any of these up?

Dutchman to Save Borneo: Meet Smits

Scientific American 3.0
Jan through March 17, 2009
"Regrowing Borneo, tree by tree"
by Jane Braxton Little

This periodical is full of green hope!:)
Smits, A Dutchman by birht , now Indonesian, has succeeded in
recreating a new orangutan habitat "one square meter at a time."
Smits fought deforestation and the setting to fire of the orangutan habitat
for twenty years now.His partners in his venture are 600 families of the Dayak
tribe in the province of East Kalimantan in Indonesia.
Smits calls this" the people's forest".
He calls the project "Samora Lestart." He has not yet submitted the project according to
Little for public scrutiny or review.
Borneo is the third largest island in the world. Borneo has 15,000 plant species,
222 mammal species and hundreds of bird species , fresh water and amphibian fish.
It has 6,000 species that are found nowhere else.
Wallace, a contemporary of Darwin's, wrote about these species in 1858.

In the 1970s loggers started to tear this pqlce apart.
The roads that they cut inot the woods reduced the habitat and the temeprature warmed up considerably. Smits is hoping that the entire island will be restred.
What do you think about Smits?:)

Looking forward to Tuesday

I have been sick guys and I will catch up (nods) promise!

ummm....
he will have a very hard time due to the economy
and the war...
what plans do you have?
and do you support him?

Would you try the Acai berry? Why or why not?

http://www.acaiberryproductts.org
Google

According to the Acai berry organization the Acai berry is
a"perfect food that mankind has always been looking for.
It is far better than any other combination of other foods on earth, ounce
per ounce."
The Acai berry is a dark purple fruit that has little edible pulp.
It grows in a tree from the palm family and it grows in "large stringy bunches."
It only grows in Amazonia in northern Brazil in the rain forest.
Natives have been eating it for some time and ecologists are excited
with it because they have been able to stop the chopping trees
here and local people get jobs harvesting the berries;
(free trade product).

It is know for its' antioxidants.
There are very interesting studies of this fruit!
For example, Professor SteveTalcott at the University of Florida
thinks that the Acai berry in studies has caused a self-destruct process in 86%
of leukemia cells.
so..would you drink it?

Dr. Steinberg offers everyone the opportunity to pick : eye color, hair color and sex for their babies.
He uses "predictive embryos" which have certain percentage probabilities for getting the traits that the customer desires and the embryo of choice is"transferred in".

Somewhere

In warm light
Somewhere
