Miracle on Ice: Feezing Time to Save Lives
Mikel Jollett has interviewed Physicians and he says hyperhermia slows cell death in stroke, head and trauma patients.
in this paper, Dr. Steinberg at Stanford University says that the patient normally starts surgery at 91.4 Fahrenheit temperature with this procedure and for major surgery, such as a cranial bypass, drilling into the skull and exposing arteries, this prevents damage for 30 to 40 minutes.
This is awesome becasue he is preventing the arteries and brain tissue from being damaged.
He says that the main artery from the heart get blocked with a heart attack ; depriving the heart muscle of oxygen and blood and causing part of ti to die. However if the body is cooled down to 90degrees fromits' usual 98.6degrees this slows down the cells and stops them from all dying off.
What do you think?
Isn't this remarkable?
Apparently some cities like New York and Sacramento requires the ambulances tot ake the patients to where they can have this cooling for their recovery...

Well thats good to know for when i get a labotomy
That's neat Nat! It only makes sense, when you consider that the body's functions slow when cooled. If you look at when a person suffers from hypothermia, their breathing and heat rate lower and keep lowering until they "fall asleep", only if it's in a medically controled situation, it makes sense it would work to the patient's benifit~ Hope you're doing well Nat. It's been a long time since I've visited- I'm sorry!
It does seem to make sense.
