I'm glad people are so generous as they always are when things like this happen, but I fear that once the donations start slowing down, the people will be just as poor, and still without a way to help themselves.
When things like this happen, I am glad to see the charitable hearts of folks, but what is really needed in this kind of country is ways to help them in the long run too. There are too many people getting in the way, with all the press and such, that the people are not getting the help they need.
I wish there was a way to send things like seeds, fruit tree saplings and stuff like that, along with tools and other things which will help these folks for long after the news reporters leave. I pray that these folks will get what they need as well as a way to learn to do for themselves.
Thanks NatCarolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06778221847847541523noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-396868556915125294.post-14338882576360849322010-01-19T14:26:30.156-08:002010-01-19T14:26:30.156-08:00So far everyone I know with loved ones there is fi...So far everyone I know with loved ones there is fine. I agree with Buck; it is going to take time to build from nothing. The Haitian people are people of faith and there are many faith-based groups there already. I also believe it that it is going to take those who are skilled in all areas to help rebuild and restore thier lives. As Mr. Bush said, "we need you to send cash." And and prayers.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03242354503126154979noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-396868556915125294.post-67169554556393572212010-01-19T10:17:28.963-08:002010-01-19T10:17:28.963-08:00This made my heart sink. It's almost criminal that some relief efforts have been turned away, and these people are dying alone, thinking that no one wants to help them.Senoritahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13075972193214414769noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-396868556915125294.post-48226842957477780172010-01-19T07:36:50.266-08:002010-01-19T07:36:50.266-08:00It is an awful thing.
